New Supply and Product Line
Individual Artists Divisions of Jade and Bone Carving (NZ)

With the new year came monumental changes within Noble House Trading Company's New Zealand product lines. We saw an old and trusted supplier leave us with a lesson he's learning about ethics, and a new product line of superior quality and value appear which has propelled two departments into materials divisions and manufacturing. Our efforts over the holiday season netted us several improvements that when passed on to the consumer, bring a new level of quality and confidence to the marketplace on the whole. We are proud to announce our new lines and DIRECT ties with artists we previously, in many cases, only had vicarious access to. New additions of several others you will see appear ongoing over the next few weeks and months.

The resulting improvements in pricing, availability and network efficiency bring not only the newest work to market from each artist, but the most direct and realistic link to the consumer possible. This increases the monetary return to the artist exponentially and alleviates many possibilities for fraud and misrepresentation. We look forward to an even brighter and more productive future and are continuing to work to bring the finest products from the finest sources to our customers of any to be found.

Noble House now offers a number of Proprietary designs in our New Zealand Bone, Exotic Wood and Jade Carving departments you will find nowhere else in legitimate, original form. You will be able to tell from the Noble House mark of authenticity on each limited edition piece, even though there inevitably will be copies soon after their release.

New Raw Materials Division of Supply for Carvers and other Artisans

In an ongoing search such as our business constantly demands, we often run across treasures which are an absolute delight. Through the recent holiday season Noble House Trading Company has located and secured ties with one of the finest nephrite jade mines in the world. Our liaison is direct and we have secured exclusive rights to distribute raw and finished Siberian Jade to a select clientele. From carving quality to absolutely flawless gem grades and in a myriad of colors you will be seeing on our site over the coming months, we look to please the discriminating collector with an even greater array of choices when it comes to finely crafted hand made jewelery and statuary.

This effort is beneficial in two very important ways; First and foremost it brings yet another ultra high quality material into availability for the incredible talents of our artists to use in their works. While many New Zealand carvers prefer to work only in the native stone Pounamu, other more contemporary individuals delight in the exploration and diversification of mediums, all to the consumer's great benefit. Indeed estimates have shown that almost 80% of the Jade carvings exported from NZ are of foreign stone to those shores. Secondly, as much a part of the culture and history of New Zealand as Pounamu is, any use of another stone guarantees a bit of preservation of a vital and almost holy natural resource and better conveys it's true value in the market place.

We have also secured new artists working in new materials for Noble House Trading Company such as Wayne Ross' works in Ancient Swamp Kauri Wood among other rare and highly coveted woods he has available both in finished products and through our materials division for a VERY select few artist's supply.  Wayne's works themselves are amazing and his supply of his special woods for a select few other craftsmen is a completely amazing gesture of innovation and sharing.

Proprietary Works In Precious Gems

Also over the holidays NHTC was able to secure liaisons with David Dudley and International Diamond Services out of Scottsdale, Arizona, USA and renowned precious gem carver David Gatlin, also from that part of the world. These two icons of the gem carving and wholesale diamond supply business are combining forces with NHTC to produce one of a kind and production line bone and mineral carvings incorporating precious gems in wonderful designs. Noble House Trading Company is proud to have facilitated this cooperative effort to bring elegant new creations to the marketplace at the same time encouraging International cooperation between artists and cultures. It has always been part of our ultimate goals to facilitate this kind of cooperative exchange on all levels of the businesses involved, and indeed that is exactly what is happening! About a year ahead of schedule, but we're not complaining!!

Look for the prototypes of these new designs and materials to appear over the coming weeks and months on our web site, and look for our quality seal and materials sourcing labeling to appear throughout the marketplace as well. We are very excited to be involved now at every level and facet of production of these fine lines and look forward to the results in creative expression among our network of incredibly talented artists and craftsmen worldwide!

Stock Bone and Nephrite Jade Carving Production Improvements

We have learned through painful lessons several different details that affect market price and value within the carving world. One of these is the misnomer that all foreign stone to any given shore is a negative import. In other words, Chinese carvers don't work in Canadian materials and New Zealand Maori carvers will not work in any stone but Pounamu from their own country. While this holds true with some very traditional carvers set to traditional materials and carving styles, and even sometimes forms, others are more contemporary and delight in working with new and exotic materials and designs in combination and evolution of their traditional roots and gifts. Noble House Trading Company frankly hold both philosophies in utter awe and appreciation and we work hard to facilitate the promotion and preservation of each. Whether it be educating the shopping public with accurate documented data or assuring that all our products are genuine and correctly labeled through rigorous testing and accountability provisions within our agreements and the very way we operate.  We take our responsibilities as artists representatives and brokers ultimately seriously. Just ask those who have attempted to mislead us!

All of our stock Bone carvings are of the highest grade New Zealand sourced cattle bone and Eurasian Carabau bone that can be obtained. It is all hand selected by Mr. Clarrie Ross, a genuine master of this industry and father of Caleb Ross, one of the art's most promising upcoming talents. The raw NZ bone is exported to the Ross' factory in Cebu, Phillipines for processing, cutting, carving and polishing phases and then re-exported back to New Zealand for distribution to and for Noble House Trading Company.  The Carabau is locally sourced in Cebu where it is carved and then exported to New Zealand for distribution, same as the cattle bone, and actually then brings foreign value and dollars to NZ shores.

By this method we maintain tracking and documentation of source materials directly from their origin all the way to the retail display case to guarantee quality, consistency and consumer confidence. The export and re-import process allows us to use highly skilled labor which,  frankly, cannot be found in New Zealand as most carvers there are unable to keep up with demand for their work or simply do not wish to carve repeated designs. If every carver in New Zealand stopped doing one of a kind pieces and began to mass produce tomorrow, they could not begin to keep up with the demand in the marketplace. The outsourcing of some labor, while maintaining controls on standards and quality within New Zealand and Maori benchmarks, allows the continued enjoyment of consumers worldwide at competitive prices where the lack of this resource would drive costs out of reach for most buyers. This would also negatively affect the carvers themselves as demand for their work would decrease exponentially with the reduction in number of financially qualified consumers seeking their work.
